PRANA: The Indian Indie Manga That Is Quietly Building Something Special

Five chapters in, PRANA has established itself as one of the most ambitious original manga series to emerge from the Indian indie scene. Published on ZealPlane, the series follows Dattu — a seemingly ordinary young man who discovers he is connected to ancient spiritual energies that the modern world has forgotten.

What makes PRANA remarkable is not just its story concept, but the discipline and craft with which it is executed. The series creator has clearly studied manga storytelling deeply, and what emerges is a work that feels genuinely manga in its visual language while remaining rooted in Indian spiritual and mythological tradition.

Chapter by Chapter

Chapter 1 of PRANA — subtitled "The Ordinary World That Wasn't" — establishes Dattu's life with deceptive simplicity before pulling the rug out from under both the protagonist and the reader. Chapter 2 "Crossing the Threshold" expands the world dramatically as Dattu makes contact with forces beyond normal human experience. By Chapter 3 "Unveiled Depths," the series has committed fully to its mythology and begins revealing the layers of its world-building.

Chapters 4 and 5 shift into action-forward territory, with Chapter 5 "The Awakening Edge" representing a major escalation that sets up what promises to be a thrilling continuation.

Why PRANA Matters

Indian mythology has always been rich source material for stories, but it has rarely been adapted with the kind of manga visual dynamism that PRANA brings to it. By marrying Japanese storytelling technique to Indian spiritual content, PRANA points toward a genuinely new hybrid genre — Indian mythology manga — that has enormous potential.
