Aayush Kumar is a comic book creator, visual artist, and designer. He co-created India’s first cyber superhero Hanubot (2016) and wrote/illustrated OMG! Like Literally Blackmailed (2024), released in the U.S.A. His work includes the artbook Covers and Commissions (2024) and a miniature painting of the Museum of the Future, showcased at Gitex Global 2023, Dubai. An MIT Pune postgrad, Aayush works across writing, storyboarding, animation, and design, and has managed Yali Dream Creations’ social media since 2017. He continues to push creative boundaries and gain global recognition.

Illustrating Heroism: Bihar’s Young Comic Creator Wins National Spotlight at WAVES Summit Rising from the heartland of Bihar to the global stage, young comic book creator and visual artist Aayush Kumar is set to be honoured with a prestigious national award at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025. Kumar’s team has been selected as one of the five finalists in the highly anticipated Comics Creator Championship, a marquee segment of the international event celebrating excellence in storytelling and visual media. Aayush, son of Shri Amarnath Jha, a government school headmaster from the town of Rosera in Samastipur district, has steadily established himself as a distinctive voice in India’s comic book scene. From co-creating India’s first cyber superhero Hanubot in 2016 to writing and illustrating OMG! Like Literally Blackmail, a graphic novel released in the U.S. in 2024, his work reflects both creative range and cultural relevance. The recognition at WAVES 2025 comes on the heels of his latest work Skyfall to Sacrifice, a poignant comic that pays tribute to the courage of the Indian Army. Written by Meerut-based author Mohit Sharma and illustrated by Kumar, the story draws inspiration from real events during Operation Pawan in 1987. It honours the bravery of 13 Sikh Light Infantry soldiers, 10 Para Commandos, and the valorous Gora Singh, who fought to his last breath during the fierce battle at Jaffna University in Sri Lanka. Kumar’s meticulous black-and-white illustrations breathe life into the narrative, capturing both the emotional gravity and raw intensity of combat. His artistic approach has been widely appreciated for its ability to convey depth, nuance, and national pride without reliance on color. Beyond historical storytelling, Aayush has also ventured into socially conscious themes, previously working on comics focused on cybersecurity awareness, blending real-world challenges with the power of sequential art. A postgraduate from MIT Pune, his portfolio also features Covers and Commissions (2024), an artbook which he recently designed, and a miniature object painting of the Museum of the Future, which was exhibited at Gitex Global 2023 in Dubai. As comic books gain renewed attention as tools for education, social commentary, and cultural preservation, Aayush Kumar’s recognition at WAVES 2025 marks a significant milestone, not just for him personally, but for the growing ecosystem of Indian comic art.
