Synopsis & Storyline

PRANA – Chapter 1: The Ordinary World That Wasn't

PRANA is an original Indian indie comic series that blends the visual language of manga with the rich spiritual and mythological traditions of South Asian storytelling. Chapter 1 introduces us to Dattu, a seemingly ordinary young man navigating the quiet rhythms of everyday life — college routines, friendly banter, the comfortable predictability of a world he thinks he understands completely.

Everything changes with a single, unexpected encounter. A mysterious girl named Avisa appears in Dattu's life under circumstances that defy easy explanation. She is not quite what she appears to be — there is something about her that exists slightly outside the normal world, a quality that Dattu can sense but cannot yet name or understand.

This first chapter is masterfully paced as an introduction. It takes its time establishing Dattu's world, his relationships, and his personality before pulling the rug out from under him. By the end of Chapter 1, everything Dattu thought he knew about his life — and perhaps about the nature of reality itself — is suddenly in question.

The artwork blends clean line-work with expressive character design, drawing influence from Japanese manga while maintaining a distinctly Indian sensibility in its settings, character designs, and atmospheric storytelling. The comic proves that Indian creators are producing manga-influenced work that stands confidently alongside international webcomics.

Chapter 1 of PRANA is a compelling opening act — a quiet story that hints at enormous things to come, told with confidence and craft by a genuinely talented Indian creator.
