Synopsis & Storyline

Pepper & Carrot – Episode 1: The Potion of Flight

Welcome to the enchanting world of Pepper & Carrot, one of the most beloved free and open-source webcomics in the world, created by the talented French artist David Revoy. In this very first episode, we are introduced to Pepper, a young, spirited witch-in-training living in the magical land of Hereva, and her faithful, mischievous cat companion, Carrot.

The episode opens with Pepper brewing potions in her cozy, cluttered cottage, surrounded by bubbling cauldrons, strange ingredients, and the familiar chaos that defines her daily magical life. Today's mission: master the legendary Potion of Flight. This magical brew is notoriously difficult to perfect — even for experienced witches — but Pepper's determination, curiosity, and just a little recklessness push her to try anyway.

As she mixes, stirs, and (inevitably) makes mistakes, readers are given a warm, humorous introduction to the rules of magic in Hereva. The visual storytelling is rich with detail — every panel bursting with color, personality, and the unmistakable warmth of David Revoy's illustration style, inspired by European bande dessinée and manga alike.

Carrot, true to form, provides comic relief throughout, reacting to Pepper's increasingly chaotic potion experiments with wide-eyed feline disbelief. The bond between the two characters is immediately charming and establishes the heart of the series.
