What happens when a young witch invents a potion that grants genius-level intelligence? In Episode 4, Pepper does exactly that — and the results are both hilarious and unexpectedly profound. The Stroke of Genius potion is perhaps her most ambitious creation yet, a brew that temporarily supercharges the brain's magical and intellectual capacity.

Naturally, being Pepper, she decides the responsible way to test this experimental potion is not on herself first, but on the creatures around her cottage. What follows is a cascade of increasingly unexpected consequences as the local animals become temporarily superintelligent, each one putting their enhanced brains to use in ways that are uniquely, hilariously characteristic of their species.

Carrot, of course, gets involved — and a superintelligent cat is both a wonderful and terrifying thing. The dynamic between Pepper and Carrot reaches a new comedic peak in this episode, with the cat's already considerable cleverness amplified to absurd and delightful levels.

David Revoy uses this premise to explore one of the series' recurring themes: the gap between having power and having wisdom. Pepper has the magical ability to brew extraordinary potions, but understanding their consequences is an entirely different kind of intelligence.
